A thriller horror film based on true supernatural campus legend of Taiwan, The Bridge Curse not only achieved a remarkable box office success of 60 million NT dollars in Taiwan local market but also emerged as the most-watched Taiwanese film on Netflix in 2020 while it hit Top 10 in over 23 countries of Asia and South America. Furthermore, it secured the top spot at the Hong Kong weekend box office during its opening weekend.

Now, the sequel The Bridge Curse: Ritual, also directed by Lester Hsi, made its debut at the Cannes Film Festival and immediately garnered significant interest from international buyers. The American film agency WME won the rights of international distribution finally and it has already sold rights of theatrical releases to ten countries including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal, and the Philippines. This achievement positions the film as the Taiwanese production with the highest number of international pre-sale since More Than Blue in 2018.

The Bridge Curse: Ritual keeps the story as an adaptation from real supernatural campus legend, where a group of students conducted a conjuring ritual with the intention of designing an augmented reality game but unknowingly unleashed the gate to the underworld. Set within the fictional Wenhua University, a college rumored to lie on the boundary of Yin and Yang, the story revolves around a building that was originally designed to harness the power of Feng shui in order to contain lost souls. However, the building has since transformed into a haunted location, leading to instances of student possession.

Supported by funding from Taiwan Creative Content Agency's Creative Content Development Program, The Bridge Curse: Ritual is to be released in theaters in Taiwan on October 13th.
