The first original series by Mirror Fiction, Port of Lies, depicts a murder case involving a migrant fisherman who inadvertently reveals a complex web of social issues and human conflicts. No one can escape their connection to this trial. In the midst of the entanglement of human rights, interests, and emotions, who truly represents justice? The story is inspired by a notorious murder case occurred in 1986 when an ingenious youth Tang Ying-shen (湯英伸) killed the whole family of his employer who had enslaved him.

Actor Christopher Lee (李銘順) takes on the lead role in the series as Tong Bao-ju (佟寶駒), a public defender and member of the Amis, a Taiwanese indigenous ethnic group. Coming from the coastal community of Bachimen (八尺門) on the outskirts of Keelung City, Tong Bao-ju is unexpectedly assigned to defend an Indonesian migrant suspected of committing a familial murder within his own community. Unimaginable political and business ties come to light during his investigation, placing him in a difficult position under tremendous pressure from his tribe and family. Adapted from a popular novel of the same name, the series is helmed by the author himself, Tang Fu-rui(唐福睿). It fearlessly explores racial and structural issues by drawing inspiration from a real-life family murder case in Taiwan, igniting passionate discussions among diverse readers and receiving recognition at prestigious awards such as the Golden Tripod Awards and Taiwan Literature Awards.

With a rich repertoire of roles, Christopher Lee has garnered two Best Leading Actor awards and one Best Supporting Actor award at the Golden Bell Awards, showcasing his versatility in various acting styles. Reflecting on his portrayal of the public defender in Port of Lies, Lee candidly expressed, "As I read the novel, I told my agent I have to take the role. Because I was unfamiliar with his background in law and his Amis identity, this is by far the biggest challenge in my career." Indeed, the protagonist presented characteristics that Lee had never embodied before. He finds himself defending a suspect who has committed a heinous crime against his own people, unraveling a complex entanglement of interests, and navigating an estranged relationship with his father. Despite the vast differences in language and legal background between himself and the character, Lee was captivated by the plot as he delved into the novel. Recognizing the story's firm grounding in real-world social issues, he committed himself wholeheartedly to the role, dedicating considerable time to online discussions with the director before commencing filming in Taiwan.
